Ciutadella is a town that sits above a spectacular harbor, which made it extremely interesting for the Romans, who chose it as location for one of their towns; a few centuries later, the Moors also became interested in it and last, but not least, was the turn of the Catalans to conquer Ciutadella. However, the 18th century, with all its colonial powers, brought a shadow on Ciutadella, as it seems like neither the British nor the French found it important; this is one of the reasons why the architecture you’ll find in Ciutadella is very different from the one you find in other Spanish towns, as it is not too much influenced by the French or by the British. Salamanca City at a Glance

There are many historic and beautiful sights to be seen in Salamanca. For instance, the great University  of Salamanca has some of the best examples of Renaissance culture in Spain. It is but one of the wonderful places which make Salamanca unique.

The Old Cathedral and the New Cathedral:

The New Cathedral,  built in 1512, was attached to the Old Cathedral. They have different architectural styles, with the old Cathedral being Romanesque and the New Cathedral being late Gothic and Baroque. The altarpiece, painted by Nicolás Florentino, became a part of the main altar in the Old Cathedral in 1445. It is an ensemble of 53 panels displaying scenes from the life of Jesus and Mary.

The Roman Bridge:

The Roman Bridge was built in the first century over the Tormes River and retains 15 of the 26 arches that it originally had. It underwent repair in the 17th century after flood damage washed away parts of the bridge. From this bridge the view of the city is magnificent.

The Plaza Mayor:

This plaza is built in an 18th century Baroque design and is located in the heart of the city. It is a popular meeting place and is considered one of the most beautiful plazas in ferienhaus spanien.

The University:

The University of Salamanca is one of the oldest universities in Europe. The 16,000 inhabitants’ town looks very provincial and compact and it is one of those southern towns located in the beautiful province of Andalusia that enjoy a perfect, warm climate. Spanish town of Teruel

Teruel is a Spanish town with 31,158 inhabitants and is the capital of the autonomous community of Aragon. The ancient Iberian origin city by the name of Turba is situated on a hill south of the Iberian Mountains to the left of the River Turia. In 1986, UNESCO declared it a World Heritage Site for its characteristic architecture of its monuments, especially the Mudejar towers; covered with ceramic tiles, ferienwohnung spanien. It is reminiscent of the minarets, which give it a unique appearance of Eastern Europe. Teruel was long an important Islamic center, until Alfonso II of Aragon conquered the city in 1171.

In Mudejar style, characteristics of Muslims in Christian territory combines elements from traditional Arabic art, such as the use of some of the bricks and ceramic ornaments, Romanesque and Gothic art, which developed in the twelfth century. It is also known that, during the civil war, from December 15, 1937, to February 20, 1938, it was at the heart of many long battles between republicans and nationalists.

There are many notable monuments here: 

Catedral great Mudejar Gothic church with three naves, built in the twelfth century was amended in 1257 with the addition of a tower. Also in the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries, it underwent several additions. It is interesting; especially in the interior with the Mudejar ceiling of the nave and several chapels, that the sacristy houses the treasure of gold, with works from different eras. The Gothic church of San Francisco 1391-1492 and the Los Arcos were built in two rows of arches in 1538.

La Merced church has a beautiful Mudejar tower from the sixteenth century.

The church of 'San Salvador of the seventeenth century displays one of the most beautiful Mudejar towers.

Amantes de los Mausoleum of the thirteenth century contains the bodies of famous lovers of Teruel mummuificati: Diego de Marcilla and Isabel de Segura, who by tradition, are believed to have died from the pain of their separation.  This is an ideal place to visit for people in love.

Enjoying quirky Spanish festivals

There is no need to invite the Spanish to any celebration; it will be like teaching a duck to swim.The Spaniards are renowned for throwing up fiesta after fiesta, no matter what occasion it might be.There are many festivities in Spain, ferienhaus spanien many may not even have a true occasion but nevertheless, the Spaniards enjoy all of them. The visitor will certainly not be bored in Spain as there will be some form of merrymaking happening.

Starting from Bunol, which lies east in Valencia, there is a week long celebration in honor of San Luis Bertran, who is considered a local saint. Then, you also have the infamous "Tomatina" which is a tomato fight that can last 2 hours with truckloads of tomatoes; as many as 120,000 kg are brought in for the locals’ pleasure in pelting each other. There aren’t really many rules for this festivity but the opposite genders tend to pelt against each other from 11am to 1pm.

This is a really messy festival if you are planning to participate in it. A change of clothes would be wise with old red clothing on to participate; that would be easier with the stains. Besides "Tomatina", there will be lots of fireworks and parades to captivate your attention and occupy your time. You can even participate in a paella cooking competition that can prove to be most interesting.Many of the Valencian festivals are long – about a week.

“Las Fallas” comes on in March where larger than life papier-mâché figures fill the airspace. They can be as high as 60 feet. The figures are built in the streets with some satirical edge; Effigies of famous politicians have not been spared at every year’s festival. The peak of the celebration is the "Night of Fire" with as many as 700 "Las Fallas" burnt; the city streets turn into large bonfires. Catalonia and Valls celebrate "Calcotada", a legendary celebration of foods, especially the "calcot" at roadside barbeques with a big dipping hot sauce pot to tantalize your taste buds.

You will enjoy watching burly locals chomping down these barbequed onions as many as 300 bulbs in under an hour! Others can try the calcots with grilled meats and red wine with a little fee. Next is Haro, the medieval town which celebrates the infamous “Batalla de Vino” or the Wine Battle. This town is located in Spain’s rich wine producing land, the La Rioja. This festival happened when Haro had a dispute with its neighbors but today’s fights are all good natured with the hurling of wine by the gallons. Again, this is another messy festivity for which you should come prepared.

Alicante Safari Parks

Last year in Spain, we drove past a well posted sign on our way while driving from Alicante towards the south turning forth at Santa Pola and just a few miles later our N332 came to halt. Rio Safari Park, ferienwohnung spanien are the famous tourist attractions in Alicante close to Elche, had a wonderful day reserved for us.It was going to be a wonderful day. I have not seen camel rides in abounding years and in the mean time, we could enjoy ourselves in the pond pool and water gulch. Also, there was a restaurant and a playground and all of them were accessible in front of the entrance.

I suggest that you select clothes carefully because the climate is very hot. While other visitors strip off to their apparels and bikinis at the safari park, I found it awkward. A long day without sun cream would be difficult with very few shady places. Nowadays there is not plenty of freedom at the Elche Safari Park like before. Before, you could feed peanuts and carrots to animals and children were very delighted to do it. For me, it was all positive.

The park had the best of animals you could look for. It included:

Animals in the enclosure seemed to be comfortable and did seem to be well supervised. It is absolutely needed to wear cutting comfortable shoes as you will do plenty of walking end-to-end.All of the exhibits were gratifying in the safari park and we visited most of them. Our son who is 2 years old found the parrot most outstanding. He was laughing hard at the sight of the parrot performing stunts. It could ride a bike, roll over, play dead and even played basketball. Also, the elephants thoroughly amused spectators with water blowing and I caution you not to stand near the elephant unless you want to get all wet.

The food was average at decent price. The temperature was in thirties so we enjoyed ourselves with loads of ice creams and refreshments. To tell the truth, I bet we only had a bag of fries. Then we stopped on our way back to Alicante in Santa Pola to grab a bite at McDonalds.At the end of the day we enjoyed the Safari train ride around the zoo driving in and out of the animal envelopment area. The cool breeze eased our exhaustion.

A San Antonio Holiday

I made a trip to San Antonio with some friends last September and we checked into one of the city’s hotels. It’s called the Bellamar Hotel, a 4-star hotel situated at the edge of the city near the Bahia district. If you love the joy the nightlife brings, then this hotel would be perfect since it’s near to any number of nightlife venues. Overall, the hotel offered us great accommodations as its rooms were designed to be comfortable and spacious, the decor was up-to-date and everything was very neat. Our room had a balcony that provided us a breathtaking view of the sea.

There were also other amenities such as the satellite TV, a telephone, a safe (which required extra payment), a bathroom, a mini-refrigerator and, most importantly, walls that were sound proofed (in case you didn’t know it, you actually need them once you’re in San Antonio). They also have a pool, a restaurant to feed the food addicts and a cafe that sells drinks (including alcohol) and fast food. I actually preferred the pool where it’s clean and you are provided with several chaise loungers with which to enjoy the sun.

San Antonio has a dependable bus that can take you to the nearest bars and beach restaurants. Often, when we went out for a night of clubbing, we took the same bus ride back to the hotel. The white sand beaches are enveloped with many sunset bars. We found ourselves hanging out in a bar that’s way more popular than Cafe del Mar. We did nothing but spend all our evenings bar-hopping, going to our three favourite restaurants and dozing off on the shore in the morning. However, there were two opportunities when we opted to go somewhere different from the beach and pool. 

We headed first to a water park which, by the way, I definitely recommend! ferienhäuser spanien, Ibiza has two so we opted to go to the park nearest to the city located at the Playa den Bossa. You won’t have a hard time locating it and once you get there, you’ll be amazed by the number of slides they offer. You could drain away all your energy there if you enjoy speeding down a waterslide and splashing into the water! But be careful in the sun and use sunblock to avoid getting sunburns.

They also have lockers where you can store your items safely while you take the plunge. All in all, I had a great time with the slides, although there was this one slide on which I chickened out. We spent our second outing at the Cala Llonga’s ranch where you can go horseback riding. It is not that far from the city and is only a taxi ride away. No doubt, this was the best part of the entire vacation. But we enjoyed absolutely everything.

Destination Aragon

Nordic skiing is a sport that offers the chance to enjoy the snowy mountains of a different kind which are also very peaceful. This sport is becoming more and more popular because the technique is simple, it allows for fun and adventure as well as good exercise and it takes people to places they would probably not have visited without such a motivation. The newly created Association of Aragon Nordic Spaces integrates eight circuits of the skiing community.

Seven of them are located in the Pyrenees and one on them is in the Universal Mounts in the province of Teruel. This organization aspires to be a stable entity that includes the different Nordic areas of Aragon to develop this sector via tourism and sport, combining efforts to constantly improve and reclaim the Nordic areas within Aragon. Overall, the eight Nordic spaces in Aragon added 41 more tracks since last winter and managed to attract tourists from all over Spain and Europe.

The excellent location of these circuits can offer some of the most spectacular landscapes of Aragon. Nordic spaces Linza, Oza-Gabardito and Lizara are in the Natural Park of the Western Valleys, near the municipalities of Anso, Hecho and Aragüés Port. There is also villa spanien, the Candanchú circuit in the heart of the Valle del Aragón. The nearby National Park of Ordesa and Monte Perdido circuit is located in Fanlo Valley and the Pineta, in Bielsa. Llanos del Hospital is located in the Benasque Valley, in the Parque Natural Posets-Maladeta.

Finally, in the province of Teruel is Muela de San Juan, located in the Sierra de Albarracín, at 1,836 meters high above the sea. The Association is open to the incorporation of any new circuit that may arise or may resume its activity.Although skiing is the star sport in the Aragon Nordic spaces, their tracks can also be used to practice many activities and sports disciplines, from the increasingly popular snowshoeing, sledding, ice climbing, dog sledding and even making igloos.

Furthermore, the eight circuits have establishments that rent all the necessary equipment to practice these activities.Once winter arrives, so does the beautiful white snow. The land here takes on a heavenly look and adventure sports enthusiasts rush to this place to enjoy an adrenaline rush in the cold winter snow. The snow is an enjoyable treat to people of all ages and tastes. Aragon is indeed a destination to which it is worth going on vacation.

Nightlife in Madrid

The city of Madrid is famous for being the night capital of Europe. The nightlife of its inhabitants is well-known and people travel to one place after the other, moving from bar to bar until the sun rises in the morning, at which time they go a bakery to eat freshly baked confections for breakfast.There are many amazing places to hang out and many lively entertainment centers for passing the night in style. You should start your evening by having tapas in one of the pubs or restaurants typically found in the streets of Huerta where the students gather. Another option is to attend any of the works presented in the theater cafe.

The Plaza de Santa Bárbara area is well-known and is populated with the famous tapas bars, cafes and pubs. Barcelona - The Beautiful City

Barcelona is a Spanish city which is famous for being a sports destination. The city hosted the Olympics in 1992. It is also the home to FC Barcelona, one of the best football (soccer) teams in the European and Spanish Football League. The city is also known for its Gothic buildings and medieval architecture. The Gothic Quarter is one of the most interesting places you can visit while you are in Barcelona. This area of the city with its narrow streets and ancient buildings of dark stone is known for its Gothic buildings. They were built between 1200 and 1500 AD. The Gothic Quarter is located in the heart of the city. You should plan to visit it during your visit to the city.

There are many places of interest in the city of Barcelona  . It is best to cover all these points of interest by walking through the city from end to end so that you can enjoy its every nook and cranny. The starting point could be the Portal del Angel for this was the old entrance to the city. Then continue to the Plaza Nova, ferienhäuser spanien,  the Cathedral, Bisbe Street and the Plaza San Jaume. You should also remember to visit places like the Cathedral of Santa Cruz and Santa Eulalia, which was declared a National Historic-Artistic Monument in 1929.

In Sant Felip Neri is the church of the same name which is constructed in the Baroque style. The walls of the church still bear the shots which were fired during the Spanish Civil War. You also do not want to miss Bisbe Pont, one of the most scenic and most photographed places in the neighborhood, which was built in the 2000’s.There are abundant flights to Barcelona all year long and it is highly likely that you will find a ticket for a very reasonable rate. This will allow you to enjoy this wonderful city without spending a lot of money on airfare.
